Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes def. Kevin Owens
Honestly, this match was just ok. Cody is always pretty enjoyable to watch in the ring and this wasn't really any different. He does need to chill with the endless Cross Rhodes spam. Save the triple Cross Rhodes for the monsters like Roman Reigns, not a babyface KO who doesn't even want to be in this match. The seeds are planted for a KO heel turn if that's the route they want to go.
Verdict: Meh
Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. The Unholy Union to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title
There really isn't much to say here. The Unholy Union are one of the few 'true' tag teams around right now and their tag-moves are excellent. Hopefully they keep getting booked and don't disappear for months.
However, they ran into the -EST and Jade Cargill so we all knew where this was going. No tag team is going to beat this duo clean until it's time for them to split and feud for 'Mania.
Verdict: Meh
CM Punk def. Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match
I admittedly don't get the CM Punk love, mostly because I didn't watch any of his prime. However, this feud feels special. Yes, the bracelet stuff is played out at this point, but man these matches have been brutal. Hopefully we get Punk v. McIntyre III at Bad Blood in a Hell in a Cell match.
Verdict: YEAH!
Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley def. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan in a Mixed Tag Team Match
Liv Morgan's move set and cheekiness have made her a real treat to watch out there since her return. Dom is Dom, the nuclear heat for just being himself is still hilarious and the chicken tendy eating fool is good TV. However, Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley are simply too good to lose here. We'll have to wait and see if Rhea can pull off that Riptide on Dom though.
Verdict: YEAH!
World Heavyweight Champion Gunther def. Randy Orton
Gunther is great.
BUT... hear me out. In a world where this wasn't the first title defense of his reign, and the outcome of this one wasn't so glaringly obvious from the get-go, Randy would win. In my own little head canon here, I would want to see Randy get the belt here, lose it to Gunther, then get it back to get to #16 and have him tie Cena and Flair. Then you have Cena feud with Randy one last time and pick up #17 off of him at WrestleMania 41.
Maybe Randy losing here sets him up for that heel turn as he's hungry for gold and he goes after Cody. We all know that program has to happen too, so we'll see, I guess.
Good to see that handshake at the end, Gunther and Randy are both outstanding.
Verdict: Meh... just kidding... YEAH!
The good stuff was really good and overall, this was a pretty enjoyable PLE.
Overall rating: YEAH!
